We are leaders in several subfields of physics & astronomy. Our research foci include the origin and structure of the universe, the microscopic and macroscopic description of condensed matter and biological systems, and the physics of the environment
We offer two programs of study. Our doctoral program has been awarding Ph.D.s in Physics since 1899, and is currently training over 175 students in all areas of physics. Our MS in Physics-Quantum Computing (MSPQC) has been awarding degrees since 2020
Our department is known for the global impact our students, faculty and alumni make with their research and cutting-edge international collaboration. We have ample hands-on research opportunities for all of our students.
