George Mason University is the largest public research university in Northern Virginia and is located right outside of Washington DC. The Department of Physics and Astronomy has strong collaborations with national research institutions in the region.
The Department of Physics and Astronomy (DPA) has over 30 full time faculty members with broad research interests and close to 80 graduate students, most of whom are Ph.D. students. Excellent opportunities for research are available in many areas.
