Description of your department culture

The Department prides itself on close faculty-student interaction with a student-to-faculty ratio of 1.7:1. Research groups hold weekly meetings in addition to frequent one-on-one meetings. Social meetings between students and faculty encourage interaction outside of the student's area of research. In addition, we hold an annual year-end party. . The Department is inviting to under-represented groups with 32% of all PhD awarded to Hispanic and 22% to female students.
