At IUPUI, you’ll be a part of small classes and an interactive learning environment with challenging material and lab work. We’re not a big department, so you’ll get personal attention as you join a tight-knit group of students and faculty.
The department offers a program of coursework and research leading to the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in physics. Approximately 40 graduate students are enrolled in the Physics department, supported by research and teaching assistantships and fellowships.
We offer two programs of study. Our doctoral program has been awarding Ph.D.s in Physics since 1899, and is currently training over 175 students in all areas of physics. Our MS in Physics-Quantum Computing (MSPQC) has been awarding degrees since 2020
The Department of Physics offers graduate programs leading to an M.S. in Physics, a Ph.D in Applied Physics, and a Ph.D. in Applied Physics with Emphasis in Medical Physics.
The Knight Campus Graduate Internship Program is a master’s program that combines focused lab and course work with a 9-month paid internship and professional development training to help students launch real careers in physics and engineering.
Our department is large enough for countless research opportunities and small enough for personal mentoring that will help you find the career path that is right for you.
